'Irish nachos' are apparently a thing now - here's what you need to know

THAT’S NOT A THING!

WE ALL LOVE nachos.

Tortilla chips covered with an unholy amount of cheese, jalapeno peppers, guacamole and salsa – what’s not to love?

But did you know that there is a variation on the dish called Irish Nachos?

What are Irish nachos exactly? Basically they’re like regular nachos except you substitute the tortilla chips for sliced potatoes. (You know, because us Irish just loooove our potatoes.)

Most often, they’re covered in toppings like bacon, cheese and spring onion.

With some sour cream and salsa on the side if you’re feeling exotic.

There are literally dozens of recipes on the internet

The internet is really trying to make Irish nachos a thing!

The dish appears to be a staple of Irish pubs around the world.

From Spend With Pennies:

When we go to our local Irish Pub, we always get their delicious potato nachos!  They are like regular nachos but instead of tortilla chips, they use crispy fried potato slices!

Here’s a pub in Wisconsin that sells them:

Even though it’s not *really* Irish food, we’re kind of intrigued

Don’t you just want to plant your face in this?
